The Borders are steeped in history,
and there many places to visit while you enjoy your stay with us. Take a day out
and visit Melrose abbey, or why not visit Old Gala House situated about 4
minutes from us, or take a trip to the Splendour of Floors Castle which is home
to the Duke of Roxburgh. Not far from Kelso lies the ancient town of Jedburgh,
which has a beautiful Abbey and a well preserved town house which was once
home to Mary Queen of Scots.
Duns, which is situated about 40
miles from Galashiels, is home to former world motor racing champion "Jim Clark",
and to commemorate his life and successes, the local council has opened an
exhibition in his honour, proudly displaying his cups, medals, trophies and
photographs.
